Frequently Asked Questions

"What is a minibar and where is it used?"

Minibars are specialized refrigerators in which we store our beverages and food in a fresh, ideal temperature, providing comfort in environments where we need to rest. That's why minibars, making us feel special, are used not only in the accommodation and healthcare sectors but also in private or public guesthouses, management offices, ships, and even train cars. Absorption system minibars, initially produced for being silent and vibration-free, are now also manufactured as compressor-based due to current climate conditions and changing usage habits.

Since minibars, especially in hotels and hospitals, are directly used by customers or guests, their technical and cosmetic conditions are crucial; they should be regularly checked and, if necessary, replaced after their economic life of 9 to 11 years.

"What should be considered when choosing a minibar?"

When choosing a minibar, first and foremost, the concept of the project should be evaluated. If it will be used in a city hotel, business hotel, or boutique hotel project, where display is important, a minibar with glass doors should be preferred. Similarly, if it will be used in a project such as a resort, thermal spa, or hospital, where both full board service and longer stays are expected, there is a need for an area where users can easily store their medications, baby food, or diet products they bring with them. Therefore, minibars with door shelves, and block-door minibars should be preferred.

Minibars can be manufactured in different external dimensions according to the manufacturers, but in the industry, volume is mostly discussed. In minibars defined as 30-35, 40-45 liters, it is actually talked about in terms of gross volume, not net volume. Therefore, it is more appropriate to look at the external dimensions in projects. A product that a brand defines as 40 liters can be 32 liters in reality, and another brand's 45-liter model may have similar or identical external dimensions. In this context, the increase in the size of the minibar is not a factor that increases the prestige of the hotel. Many chain brands can use the smallest-sized minibars even in their larger rooms.

When choosing a minibar, the concept of the hotel, the variety of offerings, and the number of beds in the room should be taken into consideration.

"Difference between glass door and block door minibar"

Minibars are available in two options: 'glass door' and 'block door'. Glass door minibars, which facilitate sales, are preferred by city hotels, business hotels, and resort hotels. Block door minibars, on the other hand, are preferred by full-board beach hotels, resort hotels, and hospitals. Guests can store their medications, baby food, and diet products at the ideal temperature in block door minibars.

Placement is crucial in Glass Door Minibar projects, which can be categorized under three main headings: Hygiene, Security, and Aesthetics. Projects that generally prefer glass door minibars do not use furniture covers. Dust lifted from the ground due to movement in the room can accumulate between the seals, or liquids can splash on the glass during cleaning, causing the minibar glass to get dirty. For this reason, we especially recommend that glass door minibars be at least 40 cm above the ground.

In terms of security, damage can be caused to the glass door due to suitcases we use in the room or service tools used by room attendants.

"Electricity consumption and desired coldness"

Especially in resort hotels with a large number of rooms, electricity consumption is a significant expense and is also subject to consumption during green hotel certifications. Therefore, minibars with appropriate energy class should be preferred.

In our country's climate conditions, cooling is also important. Especially in the southern coast, the short duration between 'check out/check in' affects the temperature of the room when not in use and consequently the use of the minibar.

"Differences between Compressor System Minibar and Mini Refrigerator"

There are distinct differences between Compressor System Hotel Minibars and Mini Refrigerators. Compressor System Minibars cool from the body for Maximum Hygiene. Therefore, there is no freezer compartment (evaporator) in direct contact with the user in the inner body section. Instead, it is placed between insulation in the rear section. With the method called COLDWALL, more hygienic and safe cooling is achieved. Moreover, these cabinets, which can cool from the body, ensure faster and more efficient cooling of newly placed packages.

Another important difference is that in Compressor System Hotel Minibars, unlike in mini refrigerators, there is no protrusion of any compressor area in the lower part. In summary, the entire volume is presented for use in a clear manner. While Compressor System Minibars are fixed to the furniture with legs and slide system, this option is not available in Mini Refrigerators. The door direction can be changed in Compressor System Minibars. In addition, door shelves can be adjusted according to the package size, and thanks to the cassette type, the falling of small packages from the shelf is prevented. Compressor System Minibars have interior lighting, and also, the automatic defrost system prevents ice formation at all times.
